TJAS Sriracha exists to provide schooling broadly equivalent to Japanese elementary and lower-secondary education for Japanese families in Thailand. The school's official explanation is unusually explicit: it follows Japan's Course of Study, teaches in Japanese with Japanese textbooks and employs teachers holding Japanese licences, apart from limited local exceptions. It is also a Thai private school, not a branch of the Japanese public system. That dual status explains both its government recognition and the entrance and tuition fees that families would not encounter in a domestic Japanese public school.

MEXT recognition is current and campus-specific

Japan's Ministry of Education list of recognised overseas educational facilities, current as of 1 April 2026, names the Sriracha Japanese School under the Thai-Japanese Association and records recognition on 26 December 2008. The school opened in 2009. This is government recognition of the Japanese curriculum equivalence; it should not be confused with an English-medium international accreditation such as CIS, WASC or NEASC. The school's own current overview also states that it is a Thai-licensed private school and names the Sriracha campus separately from the Bangkok campus.

Japanese-language eligibility shapes the whole decision

The school rules require the pupil to be able to follow ordinary instruction in Japanese and require an accompanying parent to handle normal and emergency school communication in Japanese. Japanese nationality is the standard condition, although the board may recognise an equivalent case. Families must also be legally resident in Thailand on a status other than a tourist visa. These are not soft preferences. A multilingual or mixed-nationality household should read the current transfer-admissions conditions and ask the school to confirm eligibility before planning fees, housing or transport.

The grade range ends before upper secondary

TJAS Sriracha covers Japanese Elementary Grades 1-6 and Lower Secondary Grades 1-3. It does not offer Japanese upper secondary. A child completing the final lower-secondary grade needs a new school in Thailand, another country or Japan. The decision is therefore strongest for families expecting eventual return to the Japanese system or another Japanese overseas school. Parents of older pupils should ask about high-school entrance preparation, transcript format, examination guidance and the timing of applications back to Japan.

The 2026 tuition calculation is simple

Tuition is the same across published grades: ฿58,400 in Term 1, ฿58,400 in Term 2 and ฿29,200 in Term 3, totalling ฿146,000 for 2026. The standard entrance fee is ฿160,000, so a new pupil's headline school charge is ฿306,000 before bus, PTA dues, uniform or personal supplies. Defined transfer and re-entry cases can receive a reduced ฿60,000 entrance fee or a waiver, including some movement between the Bangkok and Sriracha campuses. Families should not assume an exception; ask admissions to write the applicable category into the invoice.

Ordinary materials are largely included, special costs are not

The fee rules say the school generally does not collect separate teaching-material charges except for special cases such as overnight educational trips. Uniforms and personal supplies are prepared by families and the public pages do not publish their prices. PTA dues are ฿300 in Term 1, ฿240 in Term 2 and ฿180 in Term 3. That is ฿720 annually. The current FAQ also says there is no lunch service or on-campus food sale, so every pupil must bring lunch. The school states that it does not solicit donations, which reduces one common source of ambiguity, but it does not make every trip or personal item free.

The bus figure is approximate and does not prove a Pattaya route

The FAQ gives roughly ฿20,000-฿30,000 per term, revised annually according to operating days and fuel, and directs families to the transport operator for details. No Pattaya stop, journey time or route coverage is published. Sriracha is more workable from Naklua, Laem Chabang or East Pattaya than from Jomtien, but a road estimate is not a school-bus promise. A multi-stop route can be far longer than a private car. Confirm the exact pickup point, adult supervision, morning time, return time and annual total before choosing a home.

Support exists within stated limits

The school describes a pull-out guidance room for some primary pupils, but says it does not operate a special-needs class and may decline admission where support, facilities or safety arrangements are insufficient. No staffing count, qualifications matrix or fee is publicly attached to that provision. Families needing support should submit full documentation and ask for a written acceptance plan covering staffing, frequency, language, goals and review points. Government recognition of the curriculum is not a guarantee that every learning profile can be served.

Who should shortlist it

TJAS Sriracha is a strong structural fit for a Japanese-speaking family in the Eastern Seaboard industrial corridor seeking continuity with Japanese compulsory education. It is a poor fit for a family primarily seeking English immersion, an IB or Cambridge pathway, upper secondary on the same campus, or admissions communication in English alone. The school earns a full directory page because it fills a genuine and underserved need—not because it belongs in a generic ranking against British or American schools.

The entrance-fee exceptions are specific

The school publishes examples of when the standard ฿160,000 entrance fee falls to ฿60,000 or is waived. Moving between the Bangkok and Sriracha campuses at the same division can qualify for a waiver; re-entry or progression after a gap can produce a reduced charge under defined conditions. The rule depends on prior attendance, timing and division. A family should provide the full school history and ask accounting to identify the exact published category. The directory uses ฿160,000 as the standard because an exception cannot be assumed before the school approves it.

Payment mechanics may affect employer reimbursement

The rules state that the school does not accept payment from a parent's employer and does not issue invoices or receipts addressed to the employer. Existing families use specified bank-payment systems; admission payments may require a cashier's or personal cheque under the school's process. Relocation packages often reimburse only a company-addressed invoice, so this is a material administrative constraint. Confirm with both the employer and school what receipt is available before relying on an education allowance.

Visa status is an eligibility condition

Pupils and the accompanying parent must be legally resident in Thailand on a status other than a tourist visa. The school generally does not issue education-visa documents except in limited situations described in its rules, such as defined end-of-grade or sibling circumstances after a parent's status changes. Families should not assume that enrolling creates an ED visa route. Secure the appropriate residence status independently and ask admissions which documents must be valid on the application and entry dates.

Current enrolment is published visually

The school overview embeds campus-labelled charts current to April 2026. The Sriracha charts show 313 pupils across 16 elementary classes and 86 pupils across four lower-secondary classes: 399 pupils and 20 classes in total. This is a current school-published count, not an estimate or a Bangkok-campus number. It is still only a starting point: families should ask how many pupils are in the child’s exact year, the usual class maximum and whether a place is available for the intended term.

Support decisions happen before ordinary admission

Families needing special consideration are directed to contact the Sriracha admissions/support address. The school evaluates whether its facilities and staffing can meet the pupil's needs and can decline where it judges the fit insufficient. Provide recent assessments, school reports, therapy information and safety requirements early. Ask for a written description of the pull-out room, frequency, staff qualifications and any limits. Because no extra support fee is published, do not infer that support is free or unlimited.

A practical first-year baseline

Using the standard entrance fee, a new pupil's visible school charges are ฿146,000 tuition + ฿160,000 entrance + ฿720 PTA dues, or ฿306,720. Adding the FAQ's approximate bus range for three terms produces roughly ฿366,720-฿396,720 before uniform, personal supplies, packed lunches or a special overnight trip. That range is not a quote and does not prove a Pattaya route. It is a transparent illustration of why the ฿146,000 tuition headline cannot stand alone.
