Language and learning support costs
In brief
Nine of the 29 schools publish a 2026/27 charge for language or learning support: six price English help separately and three combine it with learning support. Two schools also list distinct additional-needs charges. Billing periods differ, and a published price cannot establish whether a school can meet a particular child's needs. Combined language and learning-support fees
Rugby, ISC and Wells list English-language and learning support together in one fee row or tier table. Their documents do not split the price between those purposes, so these are not comparable dedicated additional-needs charges.

Regents says its specialist team supports additional educational needs and may include speech and language therapy and counselling. St Andrew's says regular six-week to one-term interventions are free, while the paid LSA arrangements provide more intensive and regular support.
These are not like-for-like products. Regents prices support levels; St Andrew's prices a staffing arrangement. Neither figure can tell a family whether the school can meet a specific child's needs.

Support without a published price
Garden says EAL and learning support are compulsory when assessed as necessary, describes learner passports, in-class and withdrawal support, and says the associated fee is available on request. MIS publishes its English-support tariff above, but prices Additional Education Needs case by case after assessment. TPIS describes intensive and transitional ELLS, small-group or one-to-one learning support and external specialists; its current 2026/27 tuition page lists both SEN and language support as additional costs without a tariff. The remaining schools do not publish a comparable 2026/27 support tariff in the sources checked. Garden and TPIS describe provision without a standard public price. An unpublished fee does not mean support is unavailable.

05 · Before applying
What to ask each school
These tariffs help with a budget. A school's assessment and written plan are needed to establish whether its support is suitable for your child.
- Share the starting point. Give admissions recent reports, diagnoses, therapy notes and current accommodations before assessment. For continuous one-to-one care, therapy, specialist equipment, behavioural support or complex exam access, request a confidential needs review before comparing prices.
- Define the provision. Ask who delivers support, their qualifications and supervision, weekly hours, group size, subjects missed, external-provider policy, accessible facilities and any speech, occupational or behavioural support. An EAL place or paid assistant does not confirm those services.
- Get the review and cost in writing. Ask for the review cycle, exit criteria, parent reporting, exam-access arrangements and the full charge if support intensity changes. Compare tariffs only after schools have proposed genuinely comparable provision.
- Confirm what the school can provide. Request a written statement of inclusions, exclusions, staffing and total charge before any non-refundable payment. An admissions offer or published fee does not guarantee a particular specialist or accommodation.
