// 02 · The decision framework

Five questions.
Five answers.

1. Do you want IB Diploma on American AERO/NGSS — or British IGCSE → A-Level?

This is the structural curriculum fork. ISE runs American AERO + NGSS from primary, with an American high-school diploma and an IB Diploma route at G11–12. The current sources cited on this page do not establish a scheduled MAP, PSAT or SAT programme, a university-application platform service or transfer-credit arrangements. Highgate's published pathway is British National Curriculum → IGCSE → A-Level (Senior School from 2027). Families planning for a particular university should ask both schools to map the intended course against current entry requirements and provide the available subjects, counselling and testing support in writing.

2. Can you accept first-term uncertainty — or do you need a long WASC operating record?

Highgate opened on 19 August 2026 with Pre-Prep and Junior School, so there is no Thailand exam cohort, graduate-destination record or completed operating audit cycle yet. That is a limit on available evidence, not a quality conclusion. ISE has operated since 1993 with WASC accreditation since 1999 and IBO IBDP authorisation since 2004. If your child needs Pre-Nursery through Year 6, Highgate can be assessed as an operating first-term option. If you need Grades 11–12 now, ISE is the operating senior-school option in this pairing; confirm its current subjects and university guidance directly.

3. What does each published fee exclude?

ISE gives exact tuition-only numbers: ฿358K (Pre-K) → ฿514K (K–G5) → ฿601K (G6–8) → ฿617K (G9–10) → ฿646K (G11–12 IBDP). Add lunch, bus and exams. Highgate publishes ฿375K half-day Nursery, ฿595K full-day Nursery and ฿715K–฿795K from Reception through Year 6. It excludes uniform, exams, trips, bus, photos and designated paid activities and charges ฿305,500 in application, enrolment and refundable-deposit cash for a new pupil.

4. Sriracha commute or Banglamung commute — where does your family live?

ISE is inside Burapha Golf Club at 282 Moo 5, Bowin, Sriracha; Highgate is near Siam Country Club in Banglamung. Neither address supports a universal commute estimate: travel varies with the family’s exact home, pickup route and school traffic. Test both journeys at school-run times and obtain address-specific bus timings before enrolling.

5. ISE's published student-to-teacher ratio — or founding-cohort growth on a new campus?

ISE publishes a student-to-teacher ratio below 8:1, while current enrolment is not published, and operates inside Burapha Golf Club with WASC and IBDP credentials. Highgate is in its first term on a purpose-built campus with school-published facilities including a football pitch, pool, Golf Academy and auditorium; those facilities have not been independently inspected by this publication. Visit the actual proposed class at both schools and test the commute. The meaningful choice is an established American-track cohort versus a new British primary cohort, not the headline fee bands alone.

Summary verdict

  • Choose Highgate International Thailand if: your child needs Pre-Nursery through Year 6; you want the Highgate School London framework on a Banglamung campus; British IGCSE → A-Level is the planned long-term route; and you can make a decision using first-term evidence while treating later phases as plans.
  • Choose ISE if: American AERO/NGSS with American high-school diploma and IB Diploma routes fits your plan; WASC accreditation and the published ratio below 8:1 matter after you verify the actual class; you need exact published tuition-only fees today; the Bowin route works from your address; and admissions confirms the intended senior subjects, counselling and testing support in writing.

Neither fits — if…

You need operating premium British boarding — see Rugby vs Highgate. You need American/IB versus British A-Level in Nongprue — see ISE vs TPIS. You want the widest American vs British curriculum gap with boarding — see ISE vs Rugby. You need first-term British vs established Nord Anglia — see Highgate vs Regents.

Treat opening status as part of the product

ISE can be assessed as an established school: parents can visit the proposed class, ask for current subject choices and support arrangements, test the commute and obtain a dated grade-specific invoice. Highgate’s first term means a family must distinguish what is operating from what remains a later phase. Ask to see the proposed class, confirm named teachers and current cohort size, identify operating facilities and transport routes, and obtain the written response process for any delayed provision.

For a younger child within Highgate’s announced opening range, confirm how the school will build routines, peer groups and pastoral support in a new cohort. For a child outside that opening range, do not treat the long-term all-through plan as a current place. Ask for the actual entry year and whether the relevant year group is contractually available. At ISE, ask the parallel question in a mature setting: whether the exact grade has space, which courses run for that cohort and how a new pupil joins the existing community.

Put both offers on the same worksheet

Use standard tuition before discounts, then add application, enrolment or registration, refundable deposits, meals, transport, uniforms, activities, examinations and assessed support. ISE’s published tuition excludes lunch, bus, uniform and IB examination fees, so those lines must not be silently treated as included. For Highgate, request a dated invoice for the child’s operating year group and label any founding promotion separately from the standard tariff. Record refund and withdrawal conditions beside every large early payment.

The qualification comparison also needs a written route. Highgate families should confirm when the relevant secondary years, IGCSE subjects and A-Level choices are scheduled to operate. ISE families should confirm the American-diploma and IB Diploma choices, prerequisites, counselling timetable and charges. The better offer is the one whose current availability, full cost, commute and pathway work now—not the one with the more attractive future-state description.
