1. Can you accept first-term uncertainty — or do you need an established record?

This is the structural fork. Highgate opened on 19 August 2026 with Pre-Prep and Junior School, so there is no Thailand exam cohort, graduate-destination record or completed operating audit cycle yet. That is a limit on available evidence, not a quality conclusion. Regents has operated since 1994 with IB authorisation, Education Development Trust recognition and a public university-destinations page. If your child needs Pre-Nursery through Year 6, Highgate can be assessed as an operating first-term option. If you need an operating Sixth Form, published outcome evidence or boarding now, Regents is the only structural fit between these two.

2. Do you need IB Diploma optionality at Sixth Form — or pure British A-Level?

Regents offers both A-Level and IB Diploma after IGCSE. Standard Years 12–13 tuition is ฿899,000, or ฿854,050 with its 5% annual-payment option. Highgate’s published pathway is British IGCSE to A-Level, with Senior School planned from 2027.

3. Do you need boarding operating now — or can you wait for Highgate's later phase?

Regents offers boarding from Year 3 (age 7–8) — operating today, with published enrolment fees and a boarding community already established. Highgate is not operating boarding: its Admissions page says 2028/29, while its homepage contains both 2027 and 2028 statements. Families who need boarding immediately cannot wait for a planned later phase. If boarding is part of your plan but not urgent, confirm Highgate's operative opening date and tariff before comparing it with Regents' current boarding.

4. How do the published first-year costs differ?

Regents standard tuition is ฿464,000 in Pre-Nursery, ฿649,000 in Years 1–2, ฿765,000 in Years 7–8 and ฿899,000 in Years 12–13; its 5% annual-payment figures are labelled separately. Highgate publishes ฿375,000 half-day Nursery, ฿595,000 full-day Nursery and ฿715,000–฿795,000 from Reception through Year 6.

5. London Highgate brand — or Nord Anglia global network?

Highgate is the first overseas campus of Highgate School London (est. 1565), operating near Siam Country Club with school-published facilities including a football pitch, swimming pool, Golf Academy and auditorium. These facilities have not been independently inspected by this publication. Regents is Nord Anglia Education's Pattaya campus, with group programme partnerships and an established local operating record. Highgate suits families prepared to assess a first-term school; Regents suits families prioritising an established through-school and network portability. Visit the actual proposed class and test both commutes before deciding.

Summary verdict

• Choose Highgate International Thailand if: your child needs Pre-Nursery through Year 6; you want the Highgate School London framework on a Banglamung campus; British IGCSE → A-Level is the planned long-term route; and you can make a decision using first-term evidence while treating later phases as plans.
• Choose Regents International Pattaya if: an established operating record matters; IB Diploma or A-Level choice at Sixth Form is required; boarding from Year 3 is needed now; or Nord Anglia network transfers are part of your planning.

Separate a first-term offer from a mature-school offer

Regents can show parents an established year group, current boarding routine, transition points and a 2026/27 invoice. Highgate’s first term requires a different diligence list. Ask to see the proposed class in operation, confirm the named teachers and current cohort, identify which facilities and transport routes are operating, and obtain the written response process for any delayed provision. A long-term campus plan and eventual all-through pathway should not be counted as current provision until the relevant phase is available.

Founding status can be attractive: a smaller intake may help relationships form quickly, and families may value shaping a new community. It also concentrates execution risk. Ask about teacher recruitment, curriculum resources, safeguarding and medical coverage, transport readiness, extracurricular breadth, meal service, communication systems and contingency plans. Put every feature that affects the child’s first term into the written offer. Architectural renders and future facility lists remain context, not a substitute for what a pupil can use on their start date.

At Regents, maturity creates its own questions. Visit the actual class or boarding house, request current cohort and subject information, and ask how Nord Anglia opportunities appear in the ordinary timetable rather than assuming every network programme is available identically to every pupil. Established does not mean automatically suitable; it means more of the present-day product can be observed before payment.

Price standard tuition before promotions

Use one worksheet for the child’s exact year group. Start with each school’s standard tuition, then show annual-payment or founding discounts on separate lines with their deadlines and refund conditions. Add application, registration or acceptance fees, refundable deposits, insurance, meals, transport, books, uniform, trips, examinations, activities and assessed language or learning support. For Regents boarding, add the published boarding charge and retainer; for any future Highgate boarding plan, do not enter a price or availability until admissions confirms both for the relevant year.

Ask each school to identify which charges are mandatory, optional, one-time, annual, termly and refundable. Record the cash due before the first day as well as the full-year total. A discounted annual figure may be lower overall while demanding materially more money earlier. A founding promotion may also have withdrawal conditions that matter more than its headline saving.

Map the child’s qualification route

Highgate’s published direction is British progression toward IGCSE and A-Level, while Regents already offers a choice between IB Diploma and A-Level after IGCSE. For a younger child, ask how the proposed primary class builds knowledge and assessment toward later stages. For an older child, request the actual subject list, prerequisites, timetable blocks, minimum cohort rules and counselling calendar. Highgate families should confirm when the required secondary phase is scheduled to operate; Regents families should confirm which IB and A-Level subjects will run for the intended cohort.

Optionality has value only when the pupil can use it. If the family is committed to A-Level, compare teaching, subject access and university guidance rather than paying extra attention to an IB route they will not choose. If the child may benefit from IB breadth, Regents’ operating dual pathway is a substantive distinction. Save the written course response with the admissions offer so future branding does not replace present availability.

Test the daily and residential routine

Run both journeys from the real home address during school traffic and request exact bus stops, pickup windows, ride duration and late-activity returns. If boarding matters, Regents can be assessed now: ask for the current handbook, included nights, weekend and holiday arrangements, prep supervision, medical care, guardianship, device rules and extra charges. Highgate’s boarding must be judged only against the phase and date the school confirms in writing.

The final comparison should contain two child-specific offers: confirmed start class, operational facilities, curriculum and qualification route, required support, full first-year invoice, later recurring estimate, transport or boarding routine and refund conditions. That evidence makes the underlying choice clear—join a founding British school with carefully bounded launch assumptions, or pay for an operating premium school whose present system can be inspected.
